Traditional Owner organisation working together for Elder’s Christmas

Murujuga Commercial Limited (MCL), through its Joint Ventures—Wangarri Crane and Equipment Hire, Ganaji Contracting, and Murujuga Commercial Transport—has generously donated $15,000 to the Ieramugadu Maya Store in Ieramugadu (Roebourne). The contribution, with each Joint Venture donating $5,000, will provide Christmas food hampers to the community’s Elders, ensuring a festive season filled with care and support.

MCL Directors Nellie Connors, Trevena Hick-Phillips, Lachlan Haughey, and Derek (Jig) Albert were on hand to present the donation, highlighting their commitment to supporting local communities and honouring the Elders' role in preserving and sharing cultural heritage.

Ngarluma woman and Ieramugadu local Josie Samson, Deputy Chair of Ngarluma Yindjibarndi Foundation Limited (NYFL), praised the Joint Ventures for their generous contribution.

"This incredible donation exemplifies the strong community spirit and values of Murujuga Commercial Limited and its Joint Ventures. Supporting our Elders, who hold the stories and traditions of the local Aboriginal community, is a powerful way to honor and uplift the community during the festive season. The hampers will bring joy and nourishment to those who have given so much to us."

The Ieramugadu Store, a not-for-profit community resource, plays a vital role in supporting the Ieramugadu (Roebourne) community, supporting over twenty tons of food donations to the local community every year across under a social enterprise model. This donation from MCL is another step towards fostering stronger ties between businesses and the people they serve. The hampers will be distributed in the coming weeks, ensuring Elders have a memorable and meaningful Christmas and New Years celebration.
